Monrovia – The Department of Material Management department, John F. Kennedy Medical Center, today, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, bids farewell to one of its committed, hardworking, and longest-serving staff members.
Mr. Arthur G. Chappy, a retired staff member of the John F. Kennedy Medical Center has since retired and been hired to serve with the department based on his experience and expertise.
However, Mr. Chappy served JFK Hospital for about 27 years before retiring and serving again for a few years according to the deputy HR boss, Mr. Nathan Gull.
Meanwhile, he also mentioned that during those 27 years of service, Mr. Chappy served at JFK Medical Center, there were no warning letters placed in his file.
Making a brief statement at the farewell program organized by staff members of the material management department, Mrs. Bethlyn M. Attoh, head of the medical records department praised Mr. Chappy for his dedicated services to the hospital and Liberian people.
Similarly, Mrs. Mary Howard Nyanquoi, JFK Memorial Hospital Administrator also said she would always remember Mr. Chappy for serving the medical center with due diligence and commitment.
On the other hand, Miss Marie Nyapan, administrator for the Liberia Japanese Friendship Maternity Hospital also stated that she was in school at JFK TNIMA when she encountered Mr. Chappy as one of the popular staff members within the material management department.
Indeed, it was a great day at the material management department when its newly appointed boss, David Rickie T. Karnu thanked Mr. Chappy for being so humble and open to all of the other hardworking staff members of the department including him as their boss.
“I was moved by the level of respect and openness experienced with Mr. Chappy when I took over as his” he recounted.
One of Mr. Chappy’s brothers, Mr. Victor A. Maryue who attended the honoring ceremony also praised the Department of Material Management for recognizing the long-time service of his elder brother; Mr. Chappy. ” He brought pride not only to himself but to our entire family,” Mr. Maryue said during today’s ceremony.
Making his departing statement, Mr. Arthur G. Chappy thanked fellow colleagues and gave an anecdote made by one of the medical center’s former Chief Executive Officers during a meeting he held with the department in the 1980s which states I quote “When you squeeze the honeycomb, lick your hands on the spot but don’t you dare carry the honeycomb away”.
