The JFK/ E.S Grant Mental Health Hospital a component of the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Medical Center was on yesterday awarded a certificate of recognition for the level of care, treatment and support offered to a patient who was admitted to the facility with mental health conditions and later recovered and has now reunited with her family.
The patient (name withheld) was brought to the E.S Grant Mental Health Hospital by a humanitarian in June of 2020, during the heat of the Coronavirus period in Liberia. Prior to her admittance to the facility, she had been roaming the streets of Monrovia dressed in rags and searching dumpsites in order to get her daily meals. With the help of the professional mental health Clinicians and Nurses at the E.S. Grant Mental Health Hospital, the patient recovered and was transferred to the Step Down Unit in October 2020.
Making a brief remarks at the certification ceremony, Mrs. Franzetta Nyanford Chief of Office Staff Refuge Place International, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Administration of the E.S. Grant Mental Health Hospital for the significant role played in the recovery process of the patient. She went further to say that her boss Dr. Mosoka P. Fallah who is the Chief Executive Director of the Refuge Place International, was moved to recognize the kind gesture of the hospital after watching a testimonial video of the patient after her recovery process via the social media platform. Mrs. Nyanford noted that in the society people only flagged out the negative issues and do not recognize the good things people do in their communities.
Receiving the Certificate on behalf of the JFK/ E.S Grant Mental Health Hospital, the Administrator of the hospital Mrs. Davidetta Parker- Sirleaf thanked Refuge Place International for recognizing the efforts of the hospital and encouraged other well-meaning Liberians who have also benefited from similar treatment to emulate the good example in order to serve as a motivational factor for healthcare providers.
