Monrovia – Liberia – Making deliberation with the audience and foreign guests today at JFK Hospital Lobby, Dr. Philderald E. Pratt, one of the heads of the board of education, LCPS, specialist trained must be compensated by the National Government; said Dr. Pratt.
However, he also mentioned changes in administration and the new government appointment bring a different ideology and lack of continuity of plans as well as strategies already in the book.
Passage of information to a newer administration is Cardinal for continuous improvement, he stated during today’s Grand Rounds meetings.
Liberianlization of the faculty he said had been a serious problem to the growth and development of LCPS, Dr. Pratt continues to express the challenges faced by the college.
In recent times, he said the CSA has been informed about placing some of those students we have trained on payroll,; said Dr. Pratt.
However subsequently reviewing the updates given by Pratt, concerns have been raised by some physicians about the legitimacy and sustainability of the training exercises for students from the LCPS
One of the programs mostly emphasized was anaesthetic training exercises which aren’t that up to expected standards and international level.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Linda Birch says she has noticed that the overall death rate, especially neonatal deaths is overwhelming and despite the increase in the number of medical professionals and specialists in the hospital nowadays.
However, she said 50 to 60 percent of deaths experienced in 2024 are the results of poor anaesthesia within the medical center.
Overall, Dr. Birch calls for rejuvenation in the training exercises at the LCPS.
